Community Outreach
Formerly known as
Community Concern Committee - C3.
Mission
The Community Outreach
Ministry shall be responsible for acts of Christian love
and concern through physical and material support and
assistance as needed in the congregation and throughout
our community.
“But to do good and to
communicate forget not: For with such sacrifices God is
well pleased.” Hebrews 13:16
Description
Community Outreach shall
encourage participation in God-pleasing community
programs and projects to inject God’s love into the life
of the local community by providing help to persons in
need. Community Outreach is a direct and rewarding way
to reach out to others in a personal & caring way
manner.
Community Outreach is a
direct and rewarding way to reach out to others in our
local community. Your involvement can be quite flexible.
For example, you could:
• Contribute
non-perishable food for our food drives
• Provide gifts
for children in the Angel Tree Prison Ministry
•
Give school supplies for “Pack to School”
• Donate blood
• Deliver food boxes or Angel Tree gifts
• Designate
monetary gifts for Community Outreach
• Collect baby
supplies for young mothers
• Organize projects such as
collecting funds for victims of natural disasters,
arrange for nursing home visits, or organize yard
cleanup for residents who are physically and financially
unable to maintain their yards. The needs are many.
ALL of these activities
make a positive difference in someone else's life. The
time involved from you can be a few hours one week or
month to a longer-term commitment. Won’t you join us?
“Is any one of you in
trouble? He should pray.” James 5:13
Recent &
Upcoming Projects
May God
bless you, as you become a blessing to others.
Hosanna's
Christmas Giving Tree
You know the
Christmas season is upon us when you see the
Christmas tree adorned with Angels. Watch for the
Angel Tree coming soon. You will be able to choose
an Angel to purchase a gift for. Thank you in advance for your
continued support of Prison Fellowship’s Angel Tree
Program. Watch for more information to follow.
Thanksgiving, Christmas &
Easter Food Drives
Last year's Thanksgiving
Food Drive was a tremendous success! We not only met our
ambitious Thanksgiving food box goal--we exceeded it! We
had a total of 55 boxes and 2 bags of food contributed!
Each box of food contained a $10 King Soopers gift card.
Funds for the gift cards were raised from donations and
Thrivent. Boy Scout Troop 47 helped collect and sort
food along with members of the Youth Group. We were able
to help 55 low-income senior citizens & families in
their time of need.
Angel Tree Program -
November & December
The Angel Tree program
continues to be a worthwhile and meaningful project for
the Angel Tree families and those who contribute gifts.
We were able to provide gifts to 22 Angel Tree children
and 13 other needy children. That’s a total of 70 gifts
that were purchased, wrapped & and delivered by Hosanna
members! Food boxes were also provided to many of these
families.
“Pack to School” Summer
Hosanna collected many
school supplies for children from low-income families to
start their school year off on the best foot possible.
The school supplies were collected and taken to
Inter-Faith Community Services. This was Inter-Faith’s
17th year of “Pack to School” and the most successful
year so far! With Hosanna’s help, almost 800 children
from low-income families started their school year
feeling just like everyone else in their class with new
supplies and clothes. What a great way to start off the
school year! Inter-Faith reports that it was awesome to
see so many young faces filled with delight when they
came in to pick up their packs & supplies.
Committee
Members
Community Concerns is a
very simple, flexible way in which people can make a
difference. Members organize a specific project, ask for
help from the congregation, coordinate with those
involved and report the progress of the project to the
Ministry chairperson. People may also help the project
coordinator by sorting collected food, delivering items,
speaking to the congregation or individual groups. The
possibilities are endless!
Meetings
The Community Outreach
group does not meet on a regular basis. Members
communicate through email and telephone. An annual
breakfast meeting is held with all members to get to know each other better and finalize
project plans for the upcoming year.
